The London Diaries

The London Diaries

Hey everyone!

SO, I’ve been trying to write this blog post for a while since i came back from London just over a week ago actually and i haven’t been able to decipher my favourite moments from my weekend away. For those who read my last blog post, i went down to London with my closest friends for my 21st birthday and it was honestly the most amazing and fun weekend.

We travelled down to London on the train in the early evening and my friends surprised me and brought two bottles of wine and a bottle of Prosecco!! Its safe to say that all three bottles went down far too nicely and it started the weekend wonderfully!

When we got to London we headed straight for our hotel to get checked in and we stayed at the beautiful and amazing, Hilton London Metropole! Its right near Hyde Park and it was located just opposite a tube station which made travelling round London so much easier! The hotel was  gorgeous and huge! There was 3 different wings to the hotel! We stayed in the West Wing because we stayed in a bigger room, which was one of the nicest hotel rooms I’ve ever stayed in.

The hotel really was gorgeous and our room was so spacious! We decided to stay in on Friday night as we didn’t get to our hotel till around 8.30pm so we put our pyjamas on and got Dominos delivered to our hotel room which was just so weird but so good! Never before have i had dominos ordered to a hotel room so it definitely was an experience!

The following morning we woke up bright and early and headed out for a day of exploring, we started our day in Leicester square having breakfast at this cute little Italian place. We then walked over to Covent Garden to all the markets and spent so long there. I think covent garden is my favourite place in London. Its just always so vibrant and busy and full of so many different things in the markets, and there is always someone performing in the square there which i just love! After taking in everything in Covent Garden and buying one too many christmas baubles, we headed over to Trafalgar square. I always love the walk from Covent Garden down to Trafalgar square, past the savoy hotel and theatre, the Adelphi theatre and past all the different shops on the strand.

After a stroll down the Strand and around Trafalgar square we hopped on a tube over to Winter Wonderland! It was honestly SO MUCH FUN! We shopped round the markets, ate chocolate crepes, and went on one too many rollercoasters! I screamed so much on the rides i lost my voice a little.. I promise I’m not a wuss..

That night my friends surprised me with a lovely meal and drinks in this cute little cocktail bar/restaurant, Mabels! Its just next to covent garden and it was so much fun. It’s a cocktail bar and restaurant but it also has a ‘den’ downstairs that turns into a nightclub later in the evening which was so nice to go down there after our meal and have a little boogie! They made the evening so special by getting me a little sash to wear which got me a few   free drinks, surprising me with the nicest meal in the loveliest place and just made me feel so special the whole night. It really was the most amazing and fun weekend and I’m incredibly thankful for my friends!

On Sunday we had a very lazy morning as we had quite a late check out time, so we took our time as we were a little hungover from the night before and slowly made our way out! We spent Sunday just roaming around London. We had brunch in Leicester Square and walked round the Christmas markets there too.

We then made our way to the wonderfully vibrant Camden, whilst also losing one of the girls whilst making our way there.. It was a nightmare but we all got reunited eventually! Camden was vibrant, funky and different as usual full of all the weird and wonderful yet quirky things its markets has to offer! We walked round for about 2 hours, stopping for some Dutch mini pancakes along the way, which I must say were to die for! My friend even got her brother a vintage 1940’s camera for Christmas which is definitely going to be an amazing present!

Once we were done in Camden and after our late start to the day, and the catastrophe of losing one another on the tube somehow, it was time to head back to our hotel to grab our bags and head home! It really made me quite sad that our trip was already over but I was ready to head back home and continue the birthday celebrations with my family.

I will always treasure that trip/weekend away with my best friends because it truly was such a fun and magical weekend. We all work together in a 24 hour drive thru Starbucks and with us all at university and doing different things all the time it’s sometimes quite hard to spend quality time together so I definitely appreciated the weekend with them a little more than normal!

I really would recommend going away with your friends for a birthday rather than doing a night out. You make so many more memories and you end up spending more time together and it’s just valued so much more!

London will always be a special place to me and I’m so thankful I got to spend a weekend there with a few of my favourite people for a special birthday!

With that, I shall leave you with a few of my favourite photos from the weekend and I’ll see you all soon!

Polaroid’s, London & the aftermath of Black Friday sales.

Polaroid’s, London & the aftermath of Black Friday sales.

Hey everyone,

I hope you all had a lovely weekend last weekend and managed to grab yourself some bargains in the Black Friday sales! This week’s been a bit of a crazy one with the amount of uni work i’ve had get done before i head off to London this weekend with my girls for my 21st birthday trip! My to do list has been a mile long and i’ve only just ticked everything off, so i thought i’d do a little blog post with an update of my week and the bargains i got during last weekends black Friday sales.

First on my to do list this week was to finish off the first of my 4 essays. I’ve been trying to write this for the last few weeks and i just haven’t been able to concentrate on it due to trying to finish the draft of my literature review that was also due in.

However, i’ve finally got it done and 1500 words later i can relax a tiny bit. It feels like a lifetime since i last wrote an essay this short for uni but it was nice for it to be shorter and to not be stressing over a 3000 word essay for a change. University so far has been a struggle. Third year has definitely been kicking my ass but i’m getting there.

Through all the stress i’ve realised that it is so important to still take time to look after yourself, even if its for an hour, just to take that time out, sit down with a cuppa and relax can make all the difference and just makes you feel so much better and relieves the stress.

I did this last Friday by going for a facial with a friend and honestly, it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I had a dermaplaning facial and my skin has never felt so good. The lady who did our facials was so nice and gave us so much information about the best ways to look after your skin and i can honestly say my skin has been so much better since. Just going and getting it done and lying down for 30 minutes was the biggest stress reliever and it definitely showed me that just taking a little “you” time each day can be the biggest help to you mental well being.

In another bid to relax myself but also treat myself after the busiest few months i managed to grab myself a bargain in the black Friday sales! I have wanted a polaroid camera for so many years now since a friend of mine in high school had one. So with all the money i had saved up and the discounts rolling in this past weekend i thought why the heck not? Treat yo self came to mind and thats just what i did! I bagged myself the Instax Wide 300 polaroid camera! There are so many polaroid camera’s out there and it was hard picking between them and deciding which would be the best one for me. When choosing i decided on the Instax Wide 300 because unlike the Mini versions these polaroids come out landscape and they are easier to take landscape shots, as well as group photos. Considering i wanted polaroids of family, friends and the things around me choosing the camera that would fit more in the photos seemed like the best fit for me!

The Instax Wide 300

The camera itself cost £100 which was quite reasonably priced so for me it was a bargain. The films for the camera are quite expensive. However on amazon, you can buy a pack of 20 films for £16.99 or you can buy 5 packs of 20 films for £74 which brings each pack to around £14.80 making it cheaper which really isn’t too bad, especially if you save up for it in advance.

However, after forking out just short of £200 just before a weekend trip to London its safe to say my bank account is suffering. It will continue to suffer this weekend but oh well, thats what savings are for. There to spend on the luxury fun stuff, especially when turning 21!!

Im honestly so excited about my birthday trip to London now. A while ago i couldn’t think of anything worse than doing something for my birthday because i was just in a bad head space and in this weird funk that i just could not get out of. However, I’m prepped, ready, excited and I’m beyond thankful that my friends have taken time off work and come on this special trip with me.

I’ve even got them a little thank you gift for going out of their way to help make my 21st birthday special. I’ve got them a cute little candle from ASDA  that is scented and even says “Thank you” on it which was a bargain at £5. I also got them a little Christmas tree ornament that is a red telephone box which is very fitting considering were going to London for the weekend!

Thank you gifts for the girls!

I honestly love giving gifts and seeing people happy so i am so pleased with these two little things that didnt cost much but that i know will mean the world to my friends! I just want them to know how much i appreciate them!

Finally with my one of my essays written, thank you gifts wrapped and all my essentials bought for London and packed and ready to go, i am beyond excited and i just hope later this afternoon hurrys up so i can get this fun weekend started!

I can’t wait to share my girls weekend in London with you and I will see you soon!

Returning To Social Media

Returning To Social Media

Hey everyone!

I’m finally back after taking an unannounced social media break..

The past few months have been a little bit hard. I began my third year of university and since then it has been a whirlwind. Starting a dissertation, taking on a placement and working nearly 30 hours a week has been a struggle to say the least.  Life got stressful and in all honesty blogging became something i just put aside for a while. All social media was put aside, I took a break from both twitter and Instagram, as well as anything that became a distraction.

I think in some ways I fell out of love with my blog. When i started this blog I got so wrapped up in the idea of my blog having to be perfect and exactly like other peoples, that I found myself not being me. I was forcing idea’s that I wasn’t even sure of just in order to keep posting regularly and it just wasn’t me. I have so many ideas and thoughts that I want to share, even if that means there is no definitive theme to my blog but I’ve been scared because everyone seems to have their shit together if I’m honest. Although the blogging community is one of the most supportive communities I’ve ever been involved in, its still scary to go off and do your own thing, especially when you rely on those within that community to read and share your blog.

Taking this break from all social media has really been something I needed and it’s given me time to reflect on who I am, which is crucial when trying to figure out what it is that I want to be posting about and really allowing my blog to be a reflection of me, without being fearful of what people may think.

Over the next month, I have some exciting things coming up so I thought that now was a good time to come back, explain what’s been going on and then be able to share all the fun stuff that I’m finally getting to do after a stressful few months.  Although my blog has had a serious revamp and looks so muych better than it did, im sure there will still be some transitioning and a little upgrading to do so please bare with me on this. My blog is now slowly becoming more of a little piece of me and I can honestly say there is such a big difference from what it was, to what it is now.

In terms of my social media, I adore twitter, it is my platform where I can express myself and interact with others so I will always remain on social media. Twitter is just fun and I find it such an easy platform to use and I really just love the fun that can be had on twitter so I will always remain on there and be active. However, in terms of Instagram I’m not too sure if I will continue to try and keep that going. I just don’t really connect with Instagram in terms of liking it and understanding the algorithm behind it so I may leave Instagram behind. Only time will tell. (If anyone wants to help a girl out, please give me a shout!!)

Last but not least, you may have noticed that I have changed the name of my blog from ‘Hannah’s World’ to ‘Honestly Hannah’ which I must say, I love so much more. I felt like Hannah’s world was quite generic and I simply wanted to switch it up a little bit. I’ve always prided myself on my honesty and I’m never one to lie to someone as I am always, always incredibly and brutally honest, so Honestly Hannah seemed a good fit and a little catchy to me.

So, here is to the new blog, the refreshed mind and the boss ass bitch in me that will figure out how to juggle all the things I love. Here is to you too! Yes, to you, the lovely and wonderful person sat reading this now who is still here with me after going missing for a few months, thank you, thank you, thank you!! Thank you for bearing with me and still being here to read into my crazy mind! I honestly appreciate it and I cant wait to take you on this journey with me!

With Love, Han xo
